The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has visited Jos, the Plateau State to assess the aftermath of the Christmas Eve killings that occurred in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas, as well as parts of Mangu.
The region witnessed a devastating incident where over one hundred and ninety people lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries, with widespread destruction of property and houses.
The visit by the Inspector General of Police highlight the gravity of the situation and the need for high-level intervention to address the security challenges in Plateau State.
The Police Chief’s presence in Jos signals a hands-on approach by the federal government to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Christmas Eve killings and to strategise on measures to prevent future occurrences.
