Dangote Refinery in Lagos has officially commenced production, marking a significant milestone in the largest single-train refinery’s development. The refinery, owned by the Dangote Group and led by President Aliko Dangote, has been a flagship project with the aim of transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The commencement of production aligns with the country’s efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in petroleum refining, reducing dependency on imported fuels.

President Aliko Dangote expressed gratitude for the support and visionary leadership of President Bola Tinubu, highlighting his instrumental role in realizing the project. The refinery is expected to have a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, making it the largest in Africa. The facility aims to contribute significantly to meeting Nigeria’s domestic fuel demand, reduce imports, and generate employment opportunities in the region.
