Former Minister for Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami,
revealed that a friend of his has offered to pay a N50 million ransom to
kidnappers for the release of the five remaining sisters who were abducted in Abuja.
The sisters, including one identified as Nabeeha, were kidnapped from their home
on January 2, 2024, prompting a fundraising campaign on social media to secure
their release.
In a tweet on his X handle, Pantami stated that while he personally does not
support paying ransom to criminals, a friend has stepped forward to contribute
N50 million towards securing the release of the remaining sisters. The former
minister expressed concern about the threat faced by the abducted individuals,
mentioning that he had spoken with the father of the victims about the situation.
The disclosure reflects the challenges faced by families dealing with kidnapping
incidents and the difficult decisions they are forced to make in the absence of
swift resolution and security interventions.
