Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has embarked on a journey from Abuja to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The statement released on Sunday by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, revealed that this trip was at the request of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Shettima is set to join political and business leaders worldwide to engage in discussions on global socio-economic and development issues during the 2024 forum.
 
In addition to participating in plenary sessions, Shettima is anticipated to launch the Private Sector Action Plan for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) at a special session where he will serve as co-chair. The Vice President is also scheduled for high-level discussions with prominent figures, including Makhtar Diop, the Managing Director of IFC, and Pham Minh Chinh, the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
 
On the sidelines of the annual meeting, Senator Shettima will lead a roundtable dialogue focused on Nigeria’s economic path. Furthermore, he will attend a special session dedicated to building trust in the global energy transition program. The statement outlined the diverse engagements that Shettima will undertake during the week-long event.
 
After fulfilling his commitments at the World Economic Forum, the Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria, having actively participated in discussions and initiatives aimed at addressing global economic challenges and fostering collaboration among nations.
