The Kaduna State Police Command successfully freed a kidnap victim, Segun Akinyemi, who had been abducted in Abuja and was en route to Kano with his captors. The abduction took place on January 17th at Akinyemi’s residence in the FCDA Quarters, Garki, Abuja.
According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s spokesperson, the police received intelligence about the kidnapping, indicating that the perpetrators were heading through Kaduna. Promptly responding to the distress call, operatives from the Kawo Police Divisional Headquarters intercepted a grey Toyota Hilux van with Abuja registration number RBC 90 DC, carrying four passengers.
In a courageous gun duel, the police successfully rescued Segun Akinyemi, while apprehending one of the kidnappers, identified as Chinaza Philip from Life Camp, Abuja. Unfortunately, three other gang members, including Chidibere Nwodibo from Life Camp, Abuja, one named Auwal, and the gang leader whose identity is yet to be determined, managed to escape.
As a result of the operation, the police recovered significant exhibits from the kidnappers. These included two Retay G17 model pistols, one Beretta pistol, ten 9mm P.A.K ammunitions, and five 9mm special ammunitions.
The successful rescue underscores the commitment of the Kaduna State Police Command to swiftly respond to kidnapping incidents and protect the lives of citizens. The arrested suspect, Chinaza Philip, will face legal consequences, and efforts continue to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal gang.
