Senegal’s coach, Aliou Cisse, rejoined his team after spending a night under observation in an Ivorian hospital during the Africa Cup of Nations defense. The president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Augustin Senghor, disclosed that Cisse experienced a “small gastric infection” on Thursday, leaving him somewhat fatigued. Despite his condition, Cisse managed to lead his team to a 3-1 victory over Cameroon in Yamoussoukro, securing their spot in the last 16.

Senghor mentioned, “He was a bit weakened, and the doctors preferred to take him to the hospital and put him on a drip.” The federation president, attending Cup of Nations matches in Bouake, assured that Cisse’s condition is not severe. He emphasized, “It is nothing serious. I would not be in Bouake if my coach had had a heart attack.”

In other updates, the Senegalese Football Federation revealed that Abdallah Sima, the Rangers forward, had to return to his club due to an adductor injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the tournament.
