Tragedy unfolded in Plateau as Kwahaslalek village, Mangu, witnessed a brutal attack on Tuesday night, claiming over 30 lives, predominantly women and children, during a curfew assembly at a village compound, according to Joseph Gwankat, Mwaghavul Development Association President.

The violence extended to neighboring communities, Kinat and Mairana, situated on the borders of Mangu and Barkin Ladi local government areas, facing assaults on the same fateful night.

Homes and properties were not spared in the onslaught, leaving destruction in its wake, amplifying the gravity of the situation.

In addition to the Kwahaslalek incident, reports revealed that Sabon-Gari and Mangu were also targeted, spreading terror across multiple communities.

Confirming the tragic events, DSP Alfred Alabo stated that the police were investigating the attacks, including the burning of Mangu town’s market and worship centers. Casualty figures and the extent of damage remained unconfirmed.

Despite the ongoing investigations, Alabo assured residents of the state that security measures, including the deployment of personnel and a surveillance helicopter, were in place to restore normalcy, as a 24-hour curfew persisted in Mangu Local Government Area.
