Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced the appointment of Tayo Oluwatuyi as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). This decision was communicated by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, in a statement on Wednesday. Oluwatuyi previously served as the SSG during Akeredolu’s administration.
In addition to the appointment of Tayo Oluwatuyi, Governor Aiyedatiwa has also approved the appointment of Mr. Abayomi Olasanya as the Chief of Protocol. Both appointments are effective immediately, as mentioned in the official statement.
On the same day, Governor Aiyedatiwa revealed the nomination of Olayide Owolabi Adelami for the position of Deputy Governor. Adelami, a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly and native of Owo, the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s hometown, is scheduled for screening before the state House of Assembly on Thursday.
The governor’s action aligns with Section 191(3)b&c of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. The Speaker, Rt.Hon. Olamide Oladiji, received the nomination letter on behalf of the House. The statement clarified that the governor’s decision follows constitutional provisions.
Earlier on the same day, Governor Aiyedatiwa took a decisive step by dismissing all commissioners, senior special assistants (SSAs), and special assistants (SAs) appointed by Akeredolu. The affected officials were directed to promptly hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.
