In the wake of Siminalayi Fubara’s affirmation by the Supreme Court and the subsequent swearing-in of the renominated commissioners, the appointed officials have clarified their reappointments, emphasizing that they were recalled rather than returning voluntarily. Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, addressed this matter during a Grassroots Democracy Initiative rally held in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers State.

The rally served as a convergence of political stakeholders and heavyweights aligned with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, with Isiokpo in Ikwerre LGA serving as the venue. Attendees included Local Government Chairmen from Rivers East and the recently reappointed Commissioners, who utilized the occasion to elucidate their reappointments.

Emeka Woke, the Commissioner for Special Duties, took the opportunity to clarify the circumstances surrounding their recall, affirming that they did not return to their positions but were recalled by the authorities. The event also saw Samuel Nwanosike, the Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, publicly expressing apologies to the governor for his previous unfavorable remarks, underscoring their support for Siminalayi Fubara as governor.

However, amidst the political dynamics, there were appeals for peace and reconciliation. A political chieftain urged the governor to engage with the FCT Minister to resolve their differences amicably, emphasizing the paramount importance of maintaining peace and unity within the state.

The political landscape in Rivers State appears to be intensifying, with both factions engaged in a strategic political maneuvering. The rally and the statements made by key figures indicate a complex interplay of interests and strategies. As tensions simmer and political chess moves unfold, the looming question remains: which side will yield first in this high-stakes political showdown? The quest for political dominance and reconciliation seems to be at the forefront of the unfolding narrative in Rivers State, underscoring the intricate dynamics of state politics.
