Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, presiding over the Federal High Court in Abuja, has rebuffed the bail pleas of five
individuals hailing from Port Harcourt. These men face charges of engaging in acts classified as terrorism by
the Inspector General of Police, particularly their alleged involvement in the conflagration that consumed the
Rivers State House of Assembly building last year.
The bail applications, skillfully presented and argued by Lukman Fagbemi, met an unequivocal denial. Justice Olajuwon,
in delivering the verdict, declared the applications lacked merit, finding no compelling circumstances to justify
their release from custody at the Kuje Correctional Center in Abuja.
The judge underscored that the accused, grappling with charges of terrorism, failed to present any exceptional
conditions that would override the norm of their incarceration. Terrorism offenses, as per Justice Olajuwon,
do not typically permit bail due to their gravity.
The five defendants in this terrorism case are identified as Chime Eguma Ezebalike, Prince Lukman Oladele,
Kenneth Goodluck Kpasa, Osiga Donald, and Ochueja ThankGod.
