A violent confrontation ensued between two adversary bandit factions in Dajin Haja, a wooded expanse nestled between Hayin Alhaji and Munhaye forests in Zamfara State, resulting in a substantial loss of life among the marauders. As recounted by Samaila Adamu, a local resident, the intense skirmish unfolded on Saturday, claiming numerous casualties from both warring groups.

The altercation escalated when a contingent of bandits hailing from neighboring Katsina State, armed with 41 motorcycles and intending to abduct villagers, encroached upon Zamfara State’s settlements. However, Ado Alero, a notorious bandit chieftain operating from Munhaye forest and a native of the region, interceded to thwart the abduction attempt and engaged the rival bandits in a pitched battle.

Samaila Adamu elucidated that the clash transpired within a bordering woodland straddling Katsina and Zamfara, with reinforcements summoned from the Katsina enclave. The clash endured from Saturday afternoon well into the night, with both factions exchanging volleys of gunfire, exacerbating the already precarious security situation in the vicinity.

Attempts to contact the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, to authenticate and furnish details regarding the incident proved futile, underscoring the daunting hurdles confronted by authorities in grappling with the escalating security conundrum.

In response to the recent spate of banditry in the region, Governor Dauda Lawal embarked on a visit to communities ravaged by bandit violence, reiterating his administration’s resolve to quell the tide of insecurity in Zamfara. The governor expressed solidarity with the beleaguered communities and assured them of his government’s unwavering commitment to proffering a lasting panacea to the security quagmire bedeviling the state.

Just last week, marauders launched assaults on Nasarawan Zurmi in Zurmi Local Government and Nasarawan Godal in Birnin Magaji Local Government areas of Zamfara State, resulting in significant casualties and the abduction of numerous residents. Governor Lawal’s visits underscored the gravity of the security predicament and the imperative for resolute measures to restore tranquility and stability in the afflicted locales.

While inspecting the police precinct razed by bandits in Nasarawan Zurmi, Governor Lawal pledged his administration’s unwavering support to the police force, accentuating the indispensability of furnishing requisite aid to empower law enforcement agencies to discharge their duties effectively. The governor’s steadfast commitment to bolstering security protocols mirrors the government’s determination to safeguard lives and property and reinstate public trust in the rule of law.
