In a daring operation, officers of the Nigeria Police Force successfully secured the release of Folashade Odumosu, spouse of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, following her abduction.
The harrowing incident unfolded last Thursday at the entrance to her residence in Arepo, located within Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State. The abductors, operating with calculated precision, forcibly removed Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus SUV and whisked her away through treacherous swamp terrain to an undisclosed location.
Mrs. Odumosu regained her freedom on Wednesday, thanks to a meticulously coordinated rescue operation spearheaded by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo. The operation culminated in the neutralization of the abductors, effectively ending their criminal enterprise.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, confirmed the rescue during a telephone conversation with Channels Television on Thursday. According to Adejobi, the operation also saw the retrieval of ransom funds previously used as bait to lure the perpetrators. However, the exact sum and location of the rescue were withheld from public disclosure for security reasons.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended CP Ogunlowo and the operatives involved for their strategic execution of the operation. In his remarks, the Force spokesperson reiterated the unwavering dedication of the Nigeria Police to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen.
This successful intervention underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat crime and restore confidence in their capabilities amidst growing security challenges.
