The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed has announced that corps members across the nation will begin receiving an upgraded monthly allowance of ₦77,000 starting February 2025.
Addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State, General Ahmed affirmed that the Federal Government has sanctioned this remuneration adjustment, which has been factored into the 2025 national budget.
The disbursement, he noted, will commence immediately after the budget is passed.
“The approval for the increment is already in our possession. It is no longer a matter of speculation. The only thing left is the official ratification of the budget. Since January is almost over, corps members should expect the new
allowance by February,” he assured.
While delivering his address, the NYSC DG strongly cautioned corps members against engaging in any form of misconduct or unethical behavior that could jeopardize their long-term aspirations. He underscored the significance of diligence,
integrity, perseverance, and unwavering faith as essential tenets for achieving a fulfilling and prosperous future.
Furthermore, he urged corps members to respect the customs, traditions, and cultural heritage of their host communities, advising them to assimilate swiftly and foster positive relationships with local residents upon completion of
their orientation programme.
In addition, DG encouraged corps members to leave a lasting impact on their host communities by initiating meaningful developmental projects, either individually or in collaboration with their peers. He emphasized that Community
Development Service (CDS) projects should be designed to uplift and enhance the standard of living in the areas where they are posted.
With this historic increment in financial support, the NYSC scheme reaffirms its commitment to improving the welfare of corps members, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute productively to nation-building and grassroots
development.
