The administration of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has initiated a thorough inquiry into a heated confrontation between a lecturer from the Department of Theatre Arts and a student, which stemmed from a filmed social media recording.
A university representative, Njelita Louis, affirmed that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, alongside the institution’s leadership, will ensure that disciplinary measures are applied to any party found culpable.
A viral video clip circulating on social media captured the tense exchange between Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, and Goddy Precious, a third-year student in the Department of History and International Studies.
The footage revealed Precious engaged in a dance performance, recording a TikTok clip in the hallway, when Dr. Okoye passed behind her. The lecturer lightly tapped her shoulder, instructing her to clear the path, but the student interpreted his action as an unwarranted interference in her filming session.
