Police Commission Appoints Six DIGs, New CPs for Oyo and Enugu

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of six Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) and promoted eight Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).
New DIG Appointments
In a statement released on Tuesday, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani confirmed the appointments and other key promotions within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The newly appointed DIGs include:
Sadiq Abubakar – Commandant, Police Academy, Wudil, Kano
Benjamin Okolo – AIG, Information Communication Technology Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja
Williams Adebowale – Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos
Bzigu Bali – AIG, FCID Annex, Enugu
Idegwu Ukuoma – AIG, Zone 14, Katsina
Adebola Hamzat – AIG, Zone 16, Yenagoa (Former CP, Oyo State Command)
CP Promotions and Postings
The Commission also promoted Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Uzuegbu Kanayo, to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
Two new Commissioners of Police (CPs) were appointed for Oyo and Enugu:
CP Ademola Johnson – CP, Oyo State (Previously Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police and DCP, Delta State Command)
CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa – CP, Enugu State (Previously DCP Operations, Kaduna and Imo State Commands)
Promotion of Senior Officers
The PSC also elevated eight senior officers from CSP to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP):
Abdullahi Kamba Usman
Sani Abdu
Ifeanyi Owo
Vincent Orole
Elisha Atikinkpan
Margaret Okonkwo
Alhasan Aliyu Guga
Imo Owinizi Ezekiel
The promotions followed written examinations and interactive oral interviews.
PSC Chairman’s Charge to New DIGs
Presiding over the appointments, PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) urged the new DIGs to work closely with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to strengthen security operations in Nigeria.
The selection process involved Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (rtd), Commissioner representing the Judiciary, DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), representing the Police, and Onyemuchi Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.
With these new appointments, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) aims to enhance law enforcement efficiency and maintain public safety across the country.
