Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed how he prevented political godfathers from draining the state’s resources while outlining his key achievements in the last two years.
Reflecting on his journey, Adeleke noted that many people underestimated him due to his background as a Senator and his love for dancing.
“They called me the ‘dancing senator,’ saying I would only party in office. But I ignored them and had a clear plan. The moment I was sworn in, I took action.”
He also recounted his 2018 election loss, which he claimed was unfair, and how he returned stronger to win in 2022.
“Defeating an incumbent in Africa, especially in Nigeria, is not easy. But my victory was a clear sign that it was my time.”
Adeleke emphasized his hands-on approach to governance, personally inspecting projects instead of staying in an air-conditioned office.
– He revealed that the Osun Government House was looted before his administration took over.
– He prioritized infrastructure, focusing on rural roads and bridges to help farmers transport their goods.
– His N100 billion infrastructure plan was initially doubted, but he achieved his target within two years.
“I have completed over 150 kilometers of roads across Osogbo, Ilesha, and other areas. Everywhere you go, there’s road construction, and we’ve installed streetlights to enhance security.”
Adeleke credited his success to blocking financial leakages and improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) system.
“No godfather can exploit Osun’s funds under my administration. I personally oversee spending and ensure funds are used prudently.”
He also highlighted efforts to **revive the mining sector, which had been neglected for years.
“We now have a mining license, which has never happened before. This is another major revenue source for Osun State.”
When asked about security votes, Adeleke made a surprising revelation:
“I don’t touch the security vote. It is strictly used for addressing security challenges when necessary.”
With two years in office, Adeleke believes his people-first approach has transformed Osun State. His administration continues to focus on infrastructure, revenue growth, and transparency—without interference from political godfathers.
