The Ebonyi State police command has confirmed the kidnap of some persons.
The state Public Relations Officer SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident via telephone but did not specify the number of persons abducted.
She disclosed that some people came to the Ebonyi state police command headquarters to report a case of kidnap incident, but could not tell the exact location where the alleged crime was committed.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports have it that five persons were abducted by gunmen along the mile two axis of the Ishiagu/Okigwe expressway late Tuesday.
The victims were said to be returning home from Enugu Airport with an airport taxi, a Sienna bus with registration number KWL 941 PD before they were kidnapped at Mile 2 area, Ishiagu, and taken into the nearby bush by unknown gunmen.
Onovwakpoyeya said the police command has commenced an investigation to unravel the mystery behind the ugly occurrence.
