The Court, in a unanimous decision, affirmed the judgment of the election tribunal, dismissing four separate appeals filed by Tonye Cole of All Progressives Congress (APC), Beatrice Itubo of the Labour Party (LP), Innocent Ekwu of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), and Lulu Briggs Dumo of the Accord Party.

Not satisfied with the judgement, the Accord Party Governorship Candidate filed an appeal at the apex Court seeking the nullification of the victory of Governor Fubara.

But in his 2024 New Year message, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, explained that the decision to withdraw his appeal is his contribution at reducing political tension in the oil rich State and a token of his commitment to a peaceful Rivers State.

According to statement by his Senior Special Assistant (Media), Nia’Bari Fakae, the Accord Party stalwart,  said the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State if not halted, would further worsen the lot of the people who he said had gone through a turbulent time last year.

Dumo Lulu-Briggs while commending Rivers people for standing resolute against what he termed ‘undemocratic and unconstitutional tendencies’, called on the warring groups to sheath their swords and imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, love and reconciliation.
