Governor Caleb Mutfwang has declared a 24-hour curfew in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, with immediate effect, in response to the deteriorating security situation within the area. A press release signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Gyang Bere, indicates that the decision was made after consultations with relevant security agencies to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

The press release emphasizes that citizens, particularly Mangu residents, are urged to comply with the sit-at-home order. Only individuals on essential duties are permitted to move within the local government area until further notice. The imposition of the curfew aims to maintain public safety and curb the escalating security challenges faced by the region.

Governor Mutfwang expressed dismay that despite the government’s efforts to eradicate the activities of terrorist elements in the state, some individuals remain committed to creating an atmosphere of insecurity. He extended sympathy to the families of victims and the injured, assuring them that the government is unwavering in its commitment to achieving lasting peace in the state. The governor also pledged a review of the curfew as soon as the security situation improves in the locality.
