Reading Time: < 1 minute
In a strategic move to fortify the Intelligence Department, Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has mandated the deployment of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to spearhead the Intelligence Department across zonal and state commands nationwide. This directive reflects the IGP’s commitment to bolster the efficiency of intelligence operations at every echelon, aligning with his overarching vision to curb the escalating crime rates across the country.

The decision to post these seasoned officers arises from the IGP’s unwavering dedication to not only improve but also optimize the Intelligence Department’s capabilities, ensuring a proactive approach to combating crime. This initiative stems from his broader vision statement, signaling a decisive step towards a more secure and resilient law enforcement infrastructure.

This development builds upon the IGP’s earlier efforts to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau, culminating in its transformation into a fully-fledged department. With the appointment of DIG Habu Sanni to helm this newly established department, the IGP is setting the stage for a paradigm shift in the force’s intelligence landscape.

However, the IGP’s expectations extend beyond mere structural changes. He has tasked the newly appointed senior officers with the deployment of intelligence-based assets to tackle crimes effectively within their respective jurisdictions. Moreover, these officers are charged with ingraining professionalism and leveraging their extensive experience to fortify the existing intelligence architecture of the force, ushering in a new era of robust security measures.
