Lagos Red Line Railway is set to commence its operations by the end of this month, as declared by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The Governor expressed his anticipation during a visit to the headquarters of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation in Dalian, China.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the readiness for the formal flag-off of the Lagos Red Line, eagerly awaiting confirmation from the President. In a statement released by the Lagos State Government on Monday, he stated, “We are prepared to inaugurate the Red Line. We are awaiting confirmation from Mr. President, who has assured us of this month, February, for the official launch. We have already initiated extensive testing procedures.”
He further elaborated, “We have acquired some rolling stocks and have commenced testing operations. Pending confirmation from the President, we anticipate the final week of February. Subsequently, we will ensure thorough safety checks before commencing passenger services.”
Speaking on the infrastructure, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the expertise of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, highlighting their century-long legacy in train manufacturing. He expressed confidence in the quality of their work, affirming that the finished products, including those intended for Lagos, will soon be operational on the Red Line track.
