Farmers and traditional rulers in Benue state have appealed to the Benue state government to offset the 2021 to 2023 counterpart funding of the value chain development programme of the international fund for agricultural development to sustain the states food sufficiency programme.
Chairman of the commodity alliance forum, Mister Fidelis Tarkende and the Ter Gwer, his royal highness, Dominic Akpe, made the appeal during the IFAD/VCDP inputs and mechanization farm machinery distribution to three hundred farmers in the state, amidst low funding as a result of the state inability to meet its obligations.
Three hundred farmers are benefiting from this year’s input and machinery distribution to encourage youth participation in agriculture, but more could benefit with the right funding from the state government.
