The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has dismissed a viral claim that its premium motor spirit (PMS) does not last as long as the fuel from Dangote Refinery.
In a widely circulated video, a content creator claimed that after testing fuel on different generators, the one running on NNPCL fuel stopped after 17 minutes, while the Dangote fuel lasted for 33 minutes.
However, NNPCL described the claim as misleading, stating that it was based on unverified and amateur research with no professional oversight.
In a statement, NNPCL clarified that a large percentage of fuel sold at the retail station mentioned in the video was actually sourced from the Dangote Refinery.
NNPCL’s Response:
High-Quality Fuel – The company assured Nigerians that its fuel meets top industry standards, ensuring efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability.
Partnership with Dangote Refinery – It emphasized that Dangote Refinery supplies a significant portion of PMS sold at NNPCL stations, ensuring consistent quality.
Warning Against Misinformation – NNPCL condemned the viral video, calling it a desperate attempt by economic saboteurs to mislead the public and damage its reputation.
Legal Action – The company warned that it would take legal steps against individuals or groups spreading false claims about its operations.
Public Advisory – NNPCL urged Nigerians to rely on verified sources for accurate information about fuel quality and availability.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality fuel at affordable prices while maintaining global industry standards.
