In the aftermath of the disruptions witnessed on March 14, 2024, attributable to incisions in the undersea fiber optics along the coastlines of Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal, we are gratified to convey that services have been reinstated to nearly 90% of their maximum utilization capabilities.
All telecommunications operators affected by the aforementioned incidents have managed to procure supplementary capacity from submarine cables unaffected by the lacerations, thus recuperating approximately 90% of their peak utilization levels.
Assurances have been provided by Mobile Network Operators to the Commission, affirming the operability of data and voice services at optimal levels while awaiting the comprehensive restoration of the undersea cables. This affirmation stems from their successful implementation of alternative connections to normalize the situation.
We express our gratitude to telecom consumers for their endurance and comprehension during the period of service interruption occasioned by the breaches in the undersea fiber infrastructure.
