Rivers Administrator Appoints New SSG as Head of Service Resigns

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), has appointed Prof. Ibibia Worika, a seasoned legal expert and administrator, as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

In a statement, the administrator said Worika’s appointment, which takes immediate effect, followed a rigorous selection process that highlighted his academic credentials, policy expertise, and vast experience.

In a related development, Iyingi Brown has been appointed as Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service and will serve as the acting Head of Service until a substantive replacement is named.

The appointment comes after the resignation of George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service. The state government expressed appreciation for Nwaeke’s service and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Congratulating Brown on her new role, Vice Admiral Ibas reaffirmed his commitment to peace, stability, and security in Rivers State.

The statement further emphasized that Prof. Worika’s expertise in legal scholarship, public policy, and governance would be crucial in achieving the administration’s mandate as set by President Bola Tinubu.

“Professor Worika’s wealth of experience will drive the administration’s agenda. His appointment reflects our dedication to excellence in public service,” the statement read.

The administrator reiterated his commitment to harnessing the rich human capital of Rivers State to promote peace, stability, and development.
