DOGARA: INVESTIGATE PLATEAU KILLINGS

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has called upon President Bola Tinubu, in his capacity as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, to employ every necessary measure to identify and locate the perpetrators and sponsors of the Christmas Eve attacks in Plateau State and other terrorist incidents across the nation. Dogara’s plea emphasizes the urgency of addressing the rising security challenges in the country and ensuring that those responsible for such heinous acts face appropriate consequences. The former Speaker’s appeal underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for decisive action to restore peace and security.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has added his voice to the discourse, highlighting the well-coordinated and orchestrated nature of the attacks on Christmas Eve. He points out that the attacks were intended to deliberately sow disaffection among the people of the state. Governor Mutfwang underscores the importance of justice in quelling the continuous attacks, emphasizing that addressing the root causes and ensuring accountability for past incidents are crucial steps towards ending the cycle of violence in Plateau State.

Representing the youth perspective, Solomon Dalyop, a member of the Coalition of Plateau Youths, echoes the call for an adequate and prompt response to identified dark spots believed to be terrorists’ camps. The youths emphasize the importance of these areas receiving attention from security agencies to prevent further attacks. Their plea reflects the local communities’ demand for tangible actions that go beyond mere rhetoric, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to safeguard lives and restore a sense of security in Plateau State and other regions affected by terrorism.
