Shettima Commemorates Super Eagles’ Triumph Post AFCON Semi-Final Win
Following a 1-1 draw at the end of extra time, the three-time champions are set to confront the hosts,
 Ivory Coast, or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final showdown on Sunday. Vice President Kashim
Shettima joined in the jubilation with the Super Eagles after their victory against South Africa’s
Bafana Bafana in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 semi-final in Cote d’Ivore. The intense match
concluded with a 1-1 stalemate after extra time, leading to penalties. Captain William Troost-Ekong
netted a goal for Nigeria in the 67th minute, while Teboho Mokoena equalized for South Africa with a
90th-minute penalty. Ahead of the match, the vice president was dispatched by President Bola Tinubu
to uplift the players’ spirits. Following Nigeria’s triumph, the elated Vice President paid a visit
to the Super Eagles in their dressing room.
