Suspect Timileyin Ajayi Expresses No Remorse Over Salome Adaidu’s Grisly Murder

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In a chilling turn of events, 32-year-old Timileyin Ajayi has been detained by the Nasarawa State Police Command following the heinous murder of his alleged girlfriend, Salome Eleojo Adaidu. The 24-year-old, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, met her tragic end during a visit to the suspect’s residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The suspect was apprehended on January 12 while attempting to dispose of Salome’s severed head after mutilating her remains. Upon his arrest, police paraded Ajayi alongside the bloodied machetes and knives allegedly used in the crime. He was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia, where he now awaits further investigation.
Appearing visibly battered from injuries inflicted by a mob that identified him prior to his arrest, Ajayi confessed to the crime during questioning. When asked if he killed Salome, his response was chillingly candid: “Yes. It wasn’t premeditated, but it happened because we couldn’t always be together.”
Ajayi revealed that his actions were fueled by jealousy, claiming to have discovered messages between Salome and other men on her phone. He added, “She was hiding things from me. I saw her chats with other guys, and that’s what drove me to act. It wasn’t something I planned; it just unfolded that day.”
In an even more disturbing admission, the suspect expressed no regret for his actions, stating, “Life is reciprocal. You have to understand someone’s struggles and put yourself in their shoes. That’s why I feel no remorse—we were compatible in my eyes.”
Family Demands Justice
Salome’s elder sister, Esther Adaidu, refuted any knowledge of a relationship between her late sister and the suspect, vehemently demanding justice. “We have never met this so-called Timi. The first time we heard of him was when we were informed that he had murdered and dismembered my sister. He admitted it to me himself. Justice must be served,” she said.
The victim’s uncle, Samson Adaji Adaidu, echoed this sentiment, describing the family’s devastation. “This man didn’t just kill our daughter—he butchered her body into over 50 pieces. It appeared as though he was preparing it for some grotesque purpose, packing the remains into multiple polythene bags. We demand justice.”
Police Assurances
The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, assured the public and the grieving family that justice would prevail. “The investigation is ongoing, and once concluded, the suspect will be charged to court. If found culpable, he will face the full weight of the law,” he stated.
SP Nansel also urged anyone with additional complaints against the suspect to come forward, pledging that all information would be thoroughly investigated.
Conflicting Accounts of Suspect’s Profession
Amid rumors of Ajayi’s alleged profession as a gospel singer, he clarified to Channels Television that he is, in fact, a cryptocurrency trader. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
The horrifying details of this case have sent shockwaves through the community, leaving a family in mourning and the public demanding accountability for this unspeakable act.
