A suspected ritualist has brutally killed and dismembered a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin. The victim, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, whom she met on social media.
Yetunde was last seen on Monday, February 10, 2025, at a naming ceremony when she received a call from a friend. She stepped away to answer the call and never returned.
According to sources:
After she went missing, her family and friends searched for her.
The next day, her parents reported the case at the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin.
The police tracked her phone number to a suspect living in the Offa Garage District of Ilorin.
The suspect, when arrested, initially denied knowing her whereabouts. However, during a police search of his house, he confessed.
He claimed Yetunde died from an asthma attack after he invited her over.
Upon further investigation, police found her dismembered body hidden in a bowl, along with tools used to cut her up.
Evidence in the suspect’s house suggests he may have committed similar crimes before, as a table in his room was equipped with dismembering tools.
The suspect has been arrested and is now at the Kwara State Police Headquarters in Ilorin. The police have assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing.
Yetunde’s tragic death adds to the growing cases of young women allegedly killed by their boyfriends.
In January 2025, Timilehin Ajayi (32) allegedly murdered his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu, and severed her head. The case is still in court.
Earlier this month, Akwa Ibom police launched an investigation into the brutal murder of makeup artist Emrich Effanga, allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Ndifreke.
This disturbing trend has raised concerns about the dangers of online dating and social media interactions. Security agencies continue to urge the public to be cautious when meeting people online and to report any suspicious activities to the police.
