TINUBU HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH BABANGIDA BEHIND CLOSED DOORS IN MINNA

President Bola Tinubu embarked on a journey to the residence of former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), situated in Minna, Niger State, where they engaged in deliberations concerning the nation’s prevailing circumstances. This confidential session followed Tinubu’s participation in the inauguration of an agricultural mechanization endeavor spearheaded by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in Minna.

During his brief working visit to Niger State, Tinubu unveiled the refurbished terminal of the Minna Airport, now christened as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, among other official obligations. Subsequently, he proceeded to Babangida’s elevated residence for discussions on critical national matters, dedicating more than an hour to the dialogue with the former military luminary.

The interaction between Tinubu and Babangida was conducted in strict privacy, with only the presence of Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, disclosed. Babangida, revered as a sage, imparted wisdom to Tinubu and stressed the necessity of aligning governmental endeavors with the welfare of the populace, while emphasizing the crucial nature of preserving national cohesion.

Babangida’s counsel to Tinubu underscored the urgency of prompt action in addressing societal issues and reiterated his commitment to offering guidance to leaders when needed. He emphasized the significance of inclusive governance aimed at grassroots development and affirmed his readiness to provide assistance to leaders seeking guidance.

Prior engagements by President Tinubu included the commencement of an agricultural mechanization initiative aimed at bolstering food security and the unveiling of the revamped domestic terminal at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport. During his discourse, Tinubu advocated for the adoption of a unified approach to salary disbursement across states, accentuating its potential to alleviate financial burdens on citizens.

Tinubu urged all states to implement the wage policy, expressing confidence that this measure, coupled with forthcoming economic strategies such as educational grants, would mitigate hardship among the populace. He emphasized the necessity for synchronized efforts at both state and national levels to effectively tackle socio-economic challenges.
