President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a series of high-profile appointments, naming Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as the board chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Also among the appointees is APC National Secretary, Senator Bashiru Ajibola, who has been designated as the board chairman of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed board chairpersons for 42 federal organisations and a secretary to the board of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services,” the statement read.
The President’s new appointments extend across various sectors. Notable inclusions are:
Sulaiman Argungu, a former deputy governor of Kebbi State, appointed as Chairman of the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company.
Magnus Abe, a longstanding ally of the President and ex-Senator representing Rivers South-East, selected as Chairman of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall.
Additionally, Tinubu has named a new Managing Director for the Nigerian Railway Corporation and a Director-General for the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
In the same announcement, President Tinubu issued a directive to all appointed board chairpersons, reminding them that their roles are strictly non-executive. He emphasized that they are not to interfere in the day-to-day operations of the organisations they oversee.
These appointments signal a strategic move by the President to strengthen leadership across critical federal agencies, aiming to enhance governance and operational efficiency.
