At the forefront of today’s discussions, it appears that the President has been inundated with grievances from his ministers and leaders of agencies concerning the frequent summoning by committees of the National Assembly.
During the iftar gathering at the State House, President Bola Tinubu took the opportunity to implore the lawmakers, under the leadership of Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, to exercise moderation in their regular summoning of officials, despite it being within their prerogative.
President Tinubu opines that allowing a slight respite will empower heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to operate with greater effectiveness and efficiency in their commitment to the nation, as excessive summonses can prove somewhat disruptive.
