U.S. Mission Condemns Brutal Killing of Catholic Priest in Kaduna

The United States Mission in Nigeria has strongly condemned the murder of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu, a Catholic priest abducted and killed in Kaduna State.
Father Okechukwu, who served at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tachiri, in Kaura Local Government Area, was kidnapped from his residence by suspected bandits on Tuesday night. Tragically, his lifeless body was discovered the following day.
Two days after the tragic incident, the U.S. Mission urged the Nigerian government to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“The U.S. Mission is deeply distressed by the brutal and senseless killing of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu in Kaduna State, Nigeria.
“We strongly condemn this horrific act of violence,” the diplomatic mission stated.
The U.S. Mission expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, church congregation, and community of the slain priest, acknowledging their immeasurable loss.
This tragic killing adds to the growing security concerns in Kaduna and other parts of Nigeria, where kidnappings and violent attacks on communities have continued to escalate.
